1. Registering with FinanzOnline and Fiskaltrust
To implement the Austrian Cash Register Ordinance (RKSV), we use a cloud-based process with the company Fiskaltrust. This has the advantage that no external hardware is needed for creating signatures. In this article, we'll explain the steps involved in registering with FinanzOnline and Fiskaltrust.
1. Registering with FinanzOnline
To operate your cash register in Austria in a legally compliant way, you'll first need a FinanzOnline account. Here's how to register:
- Registering with FinanzOnline: If you don't already have one, create an account at FinanzOnline.
- Information required:
- First and last name
- Address
- Proof of identity (e.g. passport, national ID card)
- User ID (8–12 characters, at least one letter and one digit, no umlauts/special characters)
- Social security number
- Creating a web service user:
- Go to Eingaben > Registrierkassen > Anlegen eines Webservice-Benutzers.
- Choose a new user ID (must be different from your main user ID).
- Create a PIN (8–12 characters, at least one letter and one digit, no special characters).
- Save the participant ID.
- Clicking Anlegen creates the new user.
The participant ID assigned by the system will then also be displayed.
You can find more information on this in the BMF handbook under section 4.1.3.
2. Registering with Fiskaltrust
Once you've registered with FinanzOnline, you'll need to set up your Fiskaltrust account:
- Registering on the Fiskaltrust website: Create an account at Fiskaltrust.
- Completing your company details:
- Under Informationen zum Unternehmen > Stammdaten, enter all the relevant company information.
- Check your website, VAT ID, company register number, and tax number.
- For the cash register to function correctly, one of the three identifiers — VAT ID, Global Location Number (GLN), or Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) — must be entered correctly.
- You need to run the data check (on the right side) to verify your VAT ID or TIN. If the entry is incorrect, it must be corrected and checked again.
- VAT ID: "ATU" + 8 digits, numeric, example: ATU12345678
- Global Location Number (GLN): 13 digits, numeric, lookup: http://www.gepir.at, example: 1234567890123
- Tax number: Please enter your tax number as follows:
9 digits, numeric, without separators or spaces, example: 46 123 / 4567; correct entry: 461234567
- Signing the customer agreement:
- Go to Informationen zum Unternehmen > Übersicht. Activate the KassenBetreiber (cash register operator) role by switching the toggle from OFF to ON.
- Accept the terms and conditions and sign the contract digitally.
- Adding your FinanzOnline details:
- Go to Werkzeuge > FinanzOnline (FON) Meldungen.
- Enter your participant ID, user ID, and PIN.
- Quick guide to where you can find this information: FinanzOnline → Eingaben → Registrierkassen → Anlegen eines Benutzers für Registrierkassen Webservice.
- The user ID (BENID) and PIN can be freely chosen (8–12 characters, containing at least one letter and one digit).
- The participant identification (TID) is shown in FinanzOnline and is always the same for the entire company.
- Save your entries.
- Adding Shore GmbH as your cash register operator:
- Go to KassenBetreiber > Händler/Berater suchen.
- Search for Shore GmbH, Dircksenstraße 49, 10178 Berlin.
- You can now request the assignment to Shore GmbH as your cash register operator.
- The cash register operator will then appear in the overview.
✅ Once these steps are complete, FinanzOnline and Fiskaltrust are set up.
