Creating & Editing Products in the App

In the app, you have several ways to add products.

Creating Products Manually

  • Open the Shore POS App on your iPad.
  • Tap the arrow > in the top left to go to the app menu, and select Inventory at the bottom.
  • You'll now see your product list.
  • Tap the + icon in the top right to add a product.

The following information can be added:

1. General

Product Name

The product name appears on the invoice.

Sale Price / Gross Price

Enter the sale price including VAT here.

Tax Rate

Here you can assign the appropriate VAT rate to your product.

Stock

Enter the product's stock level here. Stock updates automatically whenever the product is sold via the checkout or the online shop.

Barcode / EAN Code

You can add an EAN code for the product to make it scannable. Either type the code manually into the field, or open the iPad camera using the button on the right edge of the field.

Description

Add a short description of the product here. It will appear in the product details and in the online shop.

Product Photo

You can add one or more images for the product. These appear in the product details, in the online shop, and in the app's checkout menu when tile view is selected.

To add a photo, tap Select Photo from Gallery or Use Camera. You can then choose to take a photo or select an existing one.

Once you've selected and cropped the desired image, tap Use.

2. Categories

Choose one or more existing categories for your product, or add a new category.

3. Product Details

Brand

Enter your product's brand here.

Supplier

Enter the supplier here. You can search by supplier when looking up products in the app and the POS Manager.

Item Number

You can assign an item number to the product. When searching for products in the app and the POS Manager, you can search by item number or product name, for example. The item number also appears on the invoice.

Purchase Price

Enter the purchase price here.

Reorder Point

You can set a reorder point for the product. Once the product reaches this level, it's shown visually in the app and the POS Manager. You can also use this value for filtering.

Safety Stock

You can set a safety/minimum stock level for the product. Once the product reaches this level, it's shown visually in the app and the POS Manager. You can also use this value for filtering.

4. Variations

Attributes

You can select up to three attributes per variation. Tap the relevant fields (First Attribute, Second Attribute, Third Attribute). Make sure to also add the corresponding value (e.g. the product's size or color).

To create more variations, simply tap "Add Variations" or "Suggest Missing Variations," then tap Create.

To finish adding the new product, confirm your entries with the Save Product button.

 

Creating a Product by Scanning

Besides manual creation, there are two ways to add products via the app using the scanner:

Via the Checkout

  • Open the Shore POS App on your iPad.
  • In the checkout menu, tap the "Scan" button next to the search field, or scan an EAN code with the Socket handheld scanner that isn't yet assigned to any of your products.
    You'll then be asked whether you'd like to create a new product.
  • You can now enter the product name, stock, and price.
  • Confirm your entries by tapping "Save."
    The new product is immediately added to the cart and can be sold right away.

The scanned EAN code is automatically saved with this product. Additional product details can be added later under the Inventory menu.

Via Products

  • Open the Shore POS App on your iPad.
  • Tap the arrow > in the top left to go to the app menu, and select Inventory at the bottom.
  • You'll now see your product list.
  • Tap the "Scan" button next to the search bar, or scan an EAN code with the Socket handheld scanner that isn't yet assigned to any of your products.
  • You'll then be asked whether you'd like to create a new product.

The scanned EAN code is automatically saved with this product. Additional product details can be added later under the Inventory menu.
